Paula Maxine Patton
Paula Maxine Patton was born on December 5, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her mother Joyce is a school teacher and her father Charles Patton is a lawyer. She graduated from Hamilton High School and after that studiedn in college at UC Berkeley and transferred to USC Film School after her first year. After completing her studies, she won a three-month assignment making documentaries for PBS. She made her film debut in the 2005 romantic comedy film Hitch, co-starred with Will Smith and Eva Mendes. She was cast in the drama London. In 2006, she appeared in musical film Idlewild alongside OutKast members Andre Benjamin and Big Boi, written and directed by Bryan Barber and also performed the female lead role of Claire Kuchever in the science fiction thriller Deja Vu opposite Denzel Washington. Film was box office hit, grossing over $180 million worldwide. In 2006, she also appeared in her husband Robin Thicke's video "Lost Without You". In 2008, she played as reporter Kate Madison in the comedy television drama Swing Vote with Kevin Costner and Amy Carson. She also performed in horror film Mirrors. She appeared as Ms. Blu Rain, a teacher at the alternative high-school in Harlem, New York, who teaches and mentors disadvantaged students, in Lee Daniels' drama film Precious in 2010. In 2011, she played the leading role in the comedy film Jumping the Broom which grossed over $37 million. In 2013, she appeared in the action comedy film 2 Guns, co-starred with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, and also played the leading role in the romantic comedy film Baggage Claim. In 2015, she was cast as lead character in the ABC crime drama pilot, Runner. Thereafter she played opposite Adam Sandler in the comedy film The Do Over and in romantic comedy The Perfect Match alongside Terrence Jenkins.
